Frida Kahlo is such an icon that she has an entire festival dedicated to celebrating her life and legacy.
Frida Fest is an annual event hosted by East End Studio Gallery in Houston, Texas. "This festival unites the community through creative expression by collaborating with local artists and businesses to celebrate the life of one of Latin America’s most highly respected and influential visual artists – Frida Kahlo!" the Facebook event invite said.
In its 12th year, the festival did not disappoint. It's everything a Kahlo fan could ever dream of —from unibrows and flower crowns to incredible art.
Here are 18 photos that show the beauty of this homage to the legendary Mexican artist:
This larger-than-life Frida piece was the center of attention.
There was a Frida lookalike contest for kids and it's the cutest thing you'll ever see in your life.
Seriously, these mini-Fridas are too precious.
Don't worry, there was a contest for adults too.
We can't get enough of the Diego Rivera and Kahlo duos.
They're so perfect!
There was also a Frida-themed lotería game night.
And the food was next level.
Yes, what you're seeing IS a fruity pebbles churro.
Of course there were TONS of Frida goodies to buy.
Everything had its own fun flair on the painter.
The Kahlo love was all too real.
It's the one festival where flower crowns aren't played out.
Such a respectful way to represent her culture and artwork.
Everywhere you turned, you could find an inspiring creation.
Seriously, people are so talented.
It would have been hard not to want to buy one of everything.
Especially since a lot of the goods were handmade!
