Today's a fabulous day for Gael García Bernal fans. We’re all about to see a whole lot more of the beloved Mexican actor, and it’s starting with a tiny little movie called Zorro.
No, this is not a drill.
According to Deadline, García Bernal and director Jonás Cuarón are teaming up on a new movie titled, Z, which is a reimagined version of the popular Zorro story that will be set in the near future.
“I have always loved Gael for this role,” said Mark Amin, the founder of Sobini Films, who will coproduce the project. “Zorro is a hero who is charming, witty, and clever. Gael possesses all those characteristic and he’s able to deliver them with a modern spin to introduce the Zorro character to a new audience.”
And if that’s not enough to get excited about, the actor is also starring in Cuarón's immigration film, Desierto, which will be screened as part of Los Angeles’s Film Festival next month.
But wait, there's more!
Throughout his career, García Bernal has taken on a slew of powerful roles, working in films like Motorcycle Diaries and Babel. But it was his 2016 win at the Golden Globes for Best Actor in Mozart in the Jungle that seemed to really put the 37-year-old on the movie star map.
One thing's for sure: We can't wait to have a little more of this talented hottie in our lives.
