When you graduate from school, chances are that you're stuck wearing the drab gown and matching cap which leave very little room, if any, to personalize your look on your momentous day.

However, Latinx college graduates have gotten incredibly creative by decorating the tops of their graduation caps — and it isn't just to make a fashion statement. These students are decking out their caps as an homage to the beauty of their Latinx culture, a celebration of their hard work, and to honor their parents who helped them along the way.

The Nicaraguan behind the #LatinxGradCaps hashtag and founder of Latina Rebels, Prisca Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez, started the hashtag in May 2016 and it has become an annual tradition. Dorcas Mojica Rodriguez told Vivala, "Outsiders of that community need to recognize these beautiful and fervent Latinxs, because they’re going into the workforce and they are about to make demands," and added, "I wanted to have the intentionality of the gender neutral and feminist X in Latinx, while celebrating the grad’s creativity."

In its second year, here are 17 amazing #LatinxGradCaps from the class of 2017:
