When Cardi B's verse on Migos' "Motor Sport" that referenced Selena Quintanilla hit the internet in October, all hell broke loose.

"Let me wrap my weave up/ I'm the trap Selena," Cardi said, and that was enough to set a massive group of the Queen of Tejano's fans all the way off.

The backlash was FIERCE.

There will only be one Quintanilla, and anything that could be perceived as a comparison is a surefire way to get yourself roasted by her supporters.

We were pretty certain that Cardi didn't mean that she WAS Quintanilla, and now she's cleared that up with an explanation that would make all fans proud on Twitter.

She let the world know that Quintanilla is an inspiration to her.

"I said Trap Selena because who didn’t wanted to be Selena? She is a alter ego that everybody would want to be and i want the world to know how much i love her," she wrote.

The reaction to her tweet was wildly different from the reaction fans had to "Motor Sport."

It was a total Quintanilla lovefest.

Selena's sister, Suzette Quintanilla, had already come to Cardi's defense for the "trap Selena" line in an interview with radio station Power 106 Los Angeles' "The Cruz Show."

When asked how she viewed the way hip-hop has embraced Selena, she said, "I think it’s an honor because it just shows that Selena is a legend and she’s being recognized — not just in the Latino community or in Latin music, she’s worldwide."

Suzette's seal of approval is all fans should need.
