Demi Lovato quickly shut down rumors that she's been secretly engaged to longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama during a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"I don't see a ring," Demi said while holding up her hand and laughing. "But I wouldn't mind if I saw one! There's time for everything, you know. We've been together this long, and obviously I'm not going anywhere and vice versa."
Lovato and Valderrama have been together for about five years on and off and have been pretty open about their relationship. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Lovato admitted to Valderrama supporting her during her downward spiral.
"We started dating when I turned 18. . . Right after that, I went to rehab. People told him, 'You should probably leave. She's on a spiral, and you're going to be sucked down with it.' But he was like, 'I'm not leaving. This is somebody I really care about.' We relate on a lot of levels."
These two clearly care about each other and Lovato seems confident that Valderrama will eventually pop the question. But constantly being asked whether or not they're engaged has to get annoying. It's also kind of rude. If there's three questions you should never bug a woman with, it's when are you getting engaged? When are you getting married? And when are you having a baby? Seriously, we put enough pressure on ourselves to then have to get it from other people. Just because a couple have been together for a while doesn't mean they have to rush down the aisle.
As for Lovato, people need to just let this girl live. This isn't the first time she's had to comment on not being engaged either. Here's a timeline of all the times people thought these two were getting married!
Ellen DeGeneres addressed engagement rumors on her show for the first time in November 2013, and Lovato's response to the whole thing was hysterical. "I'm engaged," she said while exciting a screaming audience. "Yeah, he's five and we have to wait a little while." Turns out Lovato was joking about a cute little fan of hers. Good one!
