Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were skewered by followers who thought the $50,000 they donated to help Hurricane Harvey victims wasn't enough for the wealthy couple. But now fans are singing a different tune after they both stepped up in a major way to help Puerto Rico recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria.

On Sunday, Lopez joined a press conference held by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to raise awareness about the storm's impact and explain how she would be helping those affected in her parents' homeland.

The co-chair of the Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort for Puerto Rico announced they're working with Dallas Mavericks basketball team owner Mark Cuban (who's also A-Rod's co-star on "Shark Tank") as well as player José Barea (who was born in Puerto Rico) to fill two team planes with emergency supplies for the island.

Lopez said they were "awaiting air clearance to depart, land, and unload these much needed supplies in San Juan."

J.Lo also announced she would be donating $1 million of the proceeds from her "All I Have" show in Las Vegas.

Fans cheered when news broke on social media of her massive pledge, expressing how proud they were of her.

Lopez also made an emotional appearance via satellite on Telemundo and People en Español's "Todos Unidos" TV special that aired later that same day. She gave an emotional status update about her family in Puerto Rico.

She told fans on Instagram on Friday in a video supporting the first lady of Puerto Rico Beatriz Rosselló's United for Puerto Rico fundraising efforts that she and her cousin had yet to hear from their family on the island.

J.Lo told host Don Francisco they still had not heard from their family and were very worried, but hopeful that they are all fine.

But Lopez wasn't just there to give sad news. She shared another way she's helping Puerto Ricans in need. She told Francisco that she is partnering with ex-husband Marc Anthony to try to put together a benefit concert with a large group of artists.

If there is a duo that could pull that off, it's certainly those two.

Her partner, Alex Rodriguez, also appeared on the show to help spread awareness of the couple's joint efforts to help Puerto Rico, as well as share the support they have received from the MLB community.

According to People en Español, the Dominican-American athlete and businessman also shared that he was personally donating $250,000 to not just help Puerto Rico, but those affected by Hurricane Maria in Dominican Republic and those in need in Mexico.
