Kylie Jenner ignited a lot of gossip in 2014, when the then 16-year-old was seen with a noticeably different look. Out of nowhere it seemed that her lips were bigger – and everyone took notice.
When you're a part of a famous family and have grown up in front of audiences around the world, big physical changes won't go unrecognized.
But initially, Jenner denied that she'd had any procedures to enlarge her lips, stating it was simply the magic of makeup.
Most people didn't buy it, and eventually, she came clean on an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" in 2015.
In her November cover story for Complex, she revealed why she lied about her lip injections for so long.
"I wasn’t even 17 yet. What if I came out and said, ‘Oh, yeah, I got my lips done’? What are all those moms going to think about me? These kids, my fans, they’re going to think I’m crazy. I didn’t want to be a bad influence. I didn’t want people to think you had to get your lips done to feel good about yourself."
Her lips had been an insecurity of hers "all [her] life," Jenner revealed, adding, "I felt like no one wanted to kiss me."
But now she can admit that trying to pass her transformation off as purely makeup was pretty unbelievable. "[Everyone] thought it was crazier that I was lying about it because it was so obvious. I wish I had just been honest and upfront.”
And despite any suggestions or reports to the contrary, Jenner admits to the temporary lip fillers but insists she's never gotten permanent plastic surgery.
"It’s annoying to hear every day that you’re just this fake, plastic person when you’re not," she said.
In addition to her physical transformation, the reality star offered insight into the state of her relationship with Tyga.
Earlier this year, the two called it quits, and Jenner confirmed their brief split to Complex. She denied that Tyga cheated, and revealed their split was a joint decision. “I just needed to see what it was like not being with him. [Ultimately] we realized that wasn’t what we wanted.”
As for rumors that she got together with PartyNextDoor during her relationship hiatus from Tyga – well, she didn't exactly dismiss those either. After all, she starred in and kissed Party in his "Come and See Me" music video. But whatever did happen between the two of them, it seems like he didn't stand a chance compared to her feelings for Tyga.
“Me and Party have a cool relationship... But I wouldn’t say we dated. It never really got to that boyfriend-girlfriend stage. It was just fun. I was doing what I wanted to do.”
And at 19, that's seems exactly how Jenner plans to live her life – doing whatever it is that she wants to do. And one day that may mean doing it away from the spotlight.
Unlike her famous sisters, Jenner said doesn't want to live out every day in the public eye. "I just know that this life isn’t for me forever.” But based on her ubiquitous social media presence, it likely won't be anytime soon.
