For the second year in a row, the cast of Orange Is the New Black took home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series at the 2016 SAG Awards. As the large cast found their way to the stage, Elizabeth Rodriguez can be seen excitedly screaming into Adrienne Moore's ear "We did it again!"

Cast member Laura Prepon accepted the award on behalf of the cast, and during the acceptance speech she shined a light on why their second win is so significant saying, “Look at this stage. This is what we talk about when we talk about diversity. Different race, color, creed, sexual orientation.” Exactly! The cast of OITNB continues to showcase the potential of what film and television can achieve when diversity is made a priority.

Along with the cast of OITNB, with winners like Uzo Aduba, Idris Elba, Queen Latifah, and Viola Davis, comparisons to the Oscars and their lack of inclusion couldn't be ignored. Backstage, cast member Selenis Leyva shared her thoughts regarding the lack of roles for women and people of color saying,

"The problem starts before the Academy Awards. The problem starts in the writing rooms, in the studios; the producers and directors and casting people need to open up their eyes that this is a different world we’re living in and diversity is not just black and white. Diversity is universal and it’s a lot more than what we are focusing on. It’s religions, it’s sexuality. So it doesn’t start at the Academy Awards. That’s not the solution. The solution starts before that.”

Fortunately, the producers and writers behind OITNB have embraced the individuality of the human spirit and people can finally see men and women from different backgrounds achieving their dreams. Last night the cast had a lot to celebrate. Here's a look at how some of the women shared their victory on Instagram.
