"Riverdale" stans will be happy to learn there's way more to come from Archie Comics.
Earlier this year, the CW announced it'll be developing a spinoff series centered on the classic comic (which was already turned into a popular '90s sitcom) "Sabrina the Teenage Witch."
The series will be VERY different than the '90s one you're used to.
Instead, the show will be titled "The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and will be much darker than you remember.
The show reportedly "reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult, and — of course — witchcraft."
Producers say it'll be in the vein of "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist."
Now that is dark.
Aside from this potential lead, fans are also pointing to her new blonde hair as a hint that she'll play the famous witch.
This theory isn't too far off, since the character Sabrina is always depicted as a blonde.
Some fans are just excited at the thought of having Gomez in yet another witch role. (Remember "Wizards of Waverly Place," y'all?)
If the rumors are true, it could mean Gomez would possibly appear on a "crossover" episode of "Riverdale" to initiate the spinoff.
"Riverdale" showrunner Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, who's also in charge of the "Sabrina" show, said the door is open for crossover episodes.
He's also hoping to make it happen by the end of 2018, so the two shows air at the same time.
While there's no real concrete evidence Gomez will be picking up a wand again (and since she's producing shows for Freeform and Netflix, it doesn't seem likely she'd have the time to star in a CW show), it WOULD be cool to see a Latina tackle the role.
