These days, it seems like superhero movies are a dime a dozen. That’s why it usually takes more than amazing CGI to get us really giddy over a new comic book-inspired blockbuster. But throw a badass Latina heroine into the mix, and now you’ve got our attention.
According to Marvel Studios, Tessa Thompson has officially been cast to play Valkyrie in the new film, Thor: Ragnarok. One of the franchise’s most powerful female heroines, Valkyrie is quite the badass, with superhuman strength and a crazy intuition that allows her to sense when danger is near.
Thompson, who’s starred in other films like
Creed and Selma, will surely add the perfect amount of fierceness to the
cast, which also includes Cate Blanchett, Jeff
Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Mark Ruffalo, as well as the oh-so-dreamy Chris Hemsworth reprising his
role as Thor.
Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters next fall.
