Dascha Polanco slays our lives with each fashion risk she takes. Whether she's ditching pants at Fashion Week or stepping onto a red carpet in a vintage tuxedo, we lose it every time. And yet, fashion designers continue to refuse to put respect on her name.
But they are going to be *so* sorry they treated the "Orange Is the New Black" star that way, thanks to a fiery new interview with The Cut.
“I can see the steps of when they’re going towards rejection," she says, of the fashion industry's treatment of her. "You can tell when they’re dodging your phone calls, and you know when they’re not going to email you back."
And beauty brands don’t get a pass, either. "It’s been hard for me to work with beauty and fashion brands because they don’t think I can sell a product or be a 'face,'" she said.
Have they not done their research on Polanco?
Fortunately, experience has taught her not to take their actions personally, especially since she has a plan for exacting revenge up her sleeve.
She's hinted that she MIGHT be starting her own line!
"Before, I used to personalize it but now I can see right through them, and it’s better for me mentally to just realize that they haven’t gotten with the program and start to think of ways to create my own things and capitalize on these rejections," she told The Cut.
By not seeing Polanco's body as worthy of their designs they made a huge mistake — they just inspired her to become their competition.
And you know she's going to be FIRE.
The established brands ignoring her will be the ones that lose out in the long run. Because Dascha is a QUEEN.
