Even though we hadn't even gotten to the actual cut yet, I was feeling the spirit of J.Lo inspire me to new levels of sexiness.
It's amazing what a difference a change in length can make to your attitude!
Next I had a luxurious shampooing experience that included an interesting pressure point massage.
My hair felt incredibly silky, and — even though the massage was a little intense at first — I felt really relaxed.
I went back to the chair, and Maciques let me know that he would be cutting my curly hair DRY, not wet, to make sure it came out even.
In my head I was thanking God, Yeezus, and Oprah for blessing me with a stylist who understands curls. Just because someone is a celebrity hairstylist it doesn't mean they are masters of every hair texture; Juan Carlos definitely is.
Before drying my hair, he ran Deesse's Elujuda FO Fluent Oil through my hair to add shine without a greasy finish.
My hair is fine, and it was still able to absorb this.
Then he used Oribe's Sculpting Cream to lay my edges flat.
And then he blew my hair dry and straight!
Look at that strength!
I need to tell you all: Juan Carlos is a wizard with the dryer. He gave me one of the most flawless blowouts of my entire life.
Once my hair was dry, it was time for the REAL cut to begin.
He kept it long in the front and opted for "beveling the edges" instead of adding lots of layers.
This would keep the cut blunt, but not TOO blunt, as well as adding lots of movement to my hair.
And here is the final result!
Even though it's scary telling a stranger to do whatever they want to your hair, I AM OBSESSED WITH THIS CUT.
Maciques gave me the smart and polished look I needed, plus enough length to throw it back in a ponytail on hot days.
Watch out, J.Lo — with this haircut (and my own personal wind machine), I'm coming for you.
Truly the trademark of any fabulous hair experience.
