#BiTwitter was trending on Wednesday, March 29, and let us tell you something: IT. WAS. LIT.
According to BuzzFeed, the one we have to thank for putting the hashtag in motion is Twitter user @quietseaturtle1.
"I tweeted after seeing what people think about bisexuality on different social media. People would say that we were cheaters or 'fake gays' especially to those in a straight relationship. I just want positivity," he told BuzzFeed.Ask and you shall receive.
Recently, Twitter has become a space for people to feel proud and celebrate their identity, while shutting down some stereotypes along the way. So when #BiTwitter was born, many people went on there to prove that bisexuality is valid and their community needs representation like other people across the LGBTQ spectrum do. #BiTwitter reminded the world that they're not "greedy" for being attracted to more than one gender, they sure as hell aren't "confused," and yes, they do in fact exist. It also blessed us with visibility of the community in the form of beautiful selfies — and we're sharing 17 of them with you.
And this is why it matters:
To be able to be your true, authentic self isn't easy but it's so damn liberating.
Some people even chose to come out with the hashtag.
It isn't an easy thing to do.
Just look at all this gloriousness.
How is everyone so perfect?!
We can't handle it.
No, really, these selfies are giving us life!
*heart eyes emoji*
Get it, get it!
We are SHOOK...
...overcome by joy...
...and kind of speechless at this point, tbh.
ONE MORE TIME FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.
Thank you to all you beautiful, bisexual humans for sharing this with the world. It's so important.
