Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera didn't have a fairytale romance

The talented artists struggled to remain faithful to each other and eventually divorced. They eventually found their way back to each other, remarried, and made it work.

There's no formula for navigating love — and their relationship reflected that. Even when Kahlo died, Rivera maintained an undying connection to her. "July 13, 1954 was the most tragic day of my life. I had lost my beloved Frida forever. Too late, now I realized that the most wonderful part of my life had been my love for Frida," he said.

Their love is magical. To celebrate it, we're sharing 35 photos that prove they were the original #RelationshipGoals.
