Just as Selena Quintanilla’s music lives on, so does her legacy. Yesterday members of the late Tejana singer’s family gathered in Corpus Christi, Texas, for a fund-raiser preceding the second-annual Fiesta de la Flor.
It was an evening filled with art, inspiration, and the memory of a beautiful soul that will not be forgotten. Together with community leaders, Quintanilla’s family hosted a painting party to raise funds for the Selena Foundation before the annual festival is set to take place next month in Corpus Christi.
Selena fans who attended the painting party remembered the fallen star, and created works of art inspired by some of her favorite things, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports.
The white rose was her
favorite flower, and the color purple was her favorite hue, her sister, Suzette
Quintanilla-Arriaga, told the Caller Times.
"We felt it would be fitting to be able to donate to a local charity," Quintanilla-Arriaga said. "My sister was very much an advocate for (domestic violence services)."
The second-annual Fiesta de la Flor will take place on May 6 and 7, and is expected to be double the size of last year’s celebration.
