Ever since The White House decided to rescinded former president Barack Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in September, the fate of over 800,000 DREAMERs hangs in the balance. DACA allowed undocumented immigrants who were brought into this country when they were children get jobs and go to school without fear of deportation, but President Donald Trump decided to pull the plug on this protection and gave Congress six months to come up with an alternate solution.

Plenty of Latinx and non-Latinx celebrities spoke out in defense of DREAMERs while Trump's wound was fresh, but now Britney Spears has joined the fight in her own way on Instagram. Her post was so unexpected, but unfortunately some of the reactions to the sweet gesture will make your blood boil.

The entertainer shared a photo of herself wearing a top that supported the group with a caption that read, "We are all Dreamers. Tell Congress to pass the #DreamAct."

Spear's post was completely unexpected and made fans who support DREAMERs love her even more now.

But of course there were those who went on her post to spread ignorance and publicly spew hate.

There was a group of people who missed the point of DACA entirely and think DREAMERs are here on their dime.

Some of their perceptions are downright dangerous.

It's further proof that Trump's disgusting rhetoric that paints immigrants as criminals is widespread. We have a long way to go and we hope more celebrities — and people in general — keep doing their part to chip away at the hate and #DefendDACA.
