In recent weeks, more and more men in Hollywood have been called out for their past sexual misconduct, including Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, James Toback, and many more.
Now, a popular Cuban-American director is under fire for similar illegal acts.
Brett Ratner, a Cuban-American producer, director and all-around entertainment businessman, has been accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by six different women.
Ratner, best known for his work on the "Rush Hour" and "X-Men" series, has already denied at least one of the accusations.
One woman by the name of Melanie Kohler shared a detailed story on Facebook, alleging Ratner raped her in the mid-2000s.
In the post, Kohler wrote he “forced himself on her, even after she repeatedly said 'no.’" The post has since been deleted, but the director is filing a libel suit against Kohler, claiming the post was "completely fabricated." The suit alleges Kohler tried to damage Ratner's reputation and career, and also caused him “emotional distress, worry, anger, and anxiety."
Actress Natasha Henstridge has also come forward with a story about Ratner, claiming he forced her to give him oral sex.
The then-19-year-old says she woke up in a New York apartment one night to find the director forcing her to perform oral sex on him. “He strong-armed me in a real way. He physically forced himself on me,” she said. “At some point, I gave in and he did his thing.”
Actress Olivia Munn also spoke up, recounting the time Ratner allegedly masturbated in front of her while visiting the set of a movie.
The "X-Men" star first told the story way back in 2010, though she didn't reveal Ratner's name. Other encounters with Ratner have led Munn to decide to "not work with" the director. “It feels as if I keep going up against the same bully at school who just won't quit,” she said. “You just hope that enough people believe the truth and for enough time to pass so that you can't be connected to him anymore.”
Actresses Jaime Ray Newman and Katharine Towne also described situations where they claim Ratner aggressively came onto them.
While on a flight, Newman said Ratner loudly described the sexual acts he wanted to perform on her. Towne, meanwhile, said Ratner once followed her into a bathroom at a Hollywood party, where he tried to force himself on her before she finally gave him her number to please him for the moment.
The Cuban-American director once dated celebrities like Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton, and Lindsay Lohan in the past.
As a result of the accusations, Warner Bros. has severed ties with Ratner.
However, Ratner is insisting that's his choice. "In light of the allegations being made, I am choosing to personally step away from all Warner Bros.-related activities," Ratner said in a statement. "I don’t want to have any possible negative impact to the studio until these personal issues are resolved." Ratner was set to direct the upcoming film adaptation of "The Goldfinch" with the company.
